How Big Is a 30 Yard Dumpster?
22 feet long, 8 feet wide, 6 feet tall. Around 9 pickup loads. The 6-foot wall changes how you load: plan to walk debris in through the rear door for the first half, then toss the light stuff over the top at the end. Crews that load door-first fit noticeably more in.

Why Volume Jobs Rarely Hit the Weight Limit
4 tons is a lot of couches. Furniture, framing lumber, and cardboard are light for the space they take, so 30 yard loads typically scale out at 2.5 to 3.5 tons. The included allowance covers it with room to spare. The exception is when somebody sneaks a concrete pad or a plaster room into an estate job. Mention it up front and we’ll plan around it.
Load Weight Cheat Sheet
- Furniture & framing lumber: light for the space
- Typical 30 yard load: 2.5–3.5 tons
- Included allowance: 4 tons, room to spare
- Watch for: concrete pads, plaster rooms
Where the 30 Yard Earns Its Money
Estate Cleanouts
A full house of furniture, decades of a family's stuff, cleared in one container instead of three trips worth of smaller bins.
New Construction
Framing scrap, siding cutoffs, and packaging from the growing Jackson subdivisions. All bulk, little weight.
Whole-Home Renovations
Multiple rooms demoing at once, without waiting on a bin swap between them.
Commercial Cleanouts
Retail turnovers and office moves. See commercial options.
30 or 40? Pick by Loading Method
Hand loading, take the 30. Its 6-foot wall is already a workout. The 40’s 8-foot wall really wants a machine or a ramp. If a skid steer is on site, the 40 costs $100 more and adds a third again the space. No machine, the 30 is the honest ceiling.

Service & Logistics
Delivery, pickup, disposal, and the first 4 tons. Driveway boards under the bin, a drop-off photo texted to you, and 7 days to load.
Transparent Weight
Go over on weight and it’s $95 per ton past 4, pro-rated off the scale ticket you get to see. Half a ton over is about $48, not $95.
Estate jobs run long more often than not — tell us the realistic timeline up front and we’ll build the extension in.
30 Yard Questions
Is it overkill for a 3-bedroom cleanout?
Usually not, if the house is genuinely full. People underestimate estate volume constantly. A lifetime of belongings runs 25 to 35 cubic yards more often than you’d guess. Half-empty house, drop to the 20 and save $100.
How long can I keep it on an estate job?
The 7 days is standard, and extensions run by the day. Estate work is emotional and slow, and we know it. Tell us the realistic timeline and nobody will rush you.
Does it fit residential driveways?
Same 22-foot footprint as the 20, so if a 20 fits, this fits. It sits taller, that’s all. Overhead wires and low branches are the thing to check, and we check on delivery too.
